20-Year-Old Rescue Dachshund Enjoying Her Birthday Cake Shows the Power of Love
We think every birthday is worth celebrating--especially when it comes to pets! There's nothing more special than spoiling a fur baby, after all, so why not recognize every milestone you pass together?
One adorable senior Dachshund named Chloe just turned 20 years old, and her family surprised her with her very own birthday cake. Thankfully, @twodoxiemoms got a video of the birthday girl chowing down too! It's truly heartwarming to see how loved this rescue dog is--the birthday party is just a bonus.

Happy birthday Chloe! We hope you enjoyed your cake as much as we enjoyed watching you munch on it. After all, no birthday is truly complete without a sweet treat like cake. Now we can't help but wonder--did this Doxie's family sing 'Happy Birthday' to her too?
When we look at the way this hungry dog chows down on her birthday cake, we can hardly believe that she's 20 years old. But it's true! Chloe's owner shared that she was surrendered for euthanasia at the age of 11 due to her IVDD, or Intervertebral Disc Disease, but here she is living her best life 9 years later. Dachshunds are at risk for spinal problems, but with proper medical care, early intervention, and lots of love, almost any dog can find relief from this degenerative spinal disease.
This pup was rescued through Dachshund Rescue South Florida, who have rescued over 6,000 weiner dogs since 2009. This donation and volunteer-run organization has many pups up for adoption, so don't forget to check them out if you felt inspired by Chloe's birthday celebration. She's not the oldest dog in the world, but she's certainly impressing us with her age and energy!
