These Are the 20 Books Travelers Are Always Leaving Behind at Their Hotels

Forgot to pack a book for your vacation? No need to worry. All you have to do is look in your hotel for a good read someone else left behind.

Hotel chain Travelodge revealed the 20 most-left-behind books at their locations, and the list includes some pretty riveting best sellers.

Topping the list is Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel from 1985, "The Handmaid’s Tale," which is now a Golden Globe-winning TV series. Either travelers are merely forgetful, they got too stressed out following Offred’s harrowing journey, or they couldn't put the book down and finished it before their vacations were through.

Other popular titles include "The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins at No. 6, "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn at No. 8 and "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone" (or "Sorcerer’s Stone," if you’re an American) by J.K. Rowling at No. 10.

“Interestingly our Travelodge Books Left Behind Index has revealed that classic and popular books that have been turned into an award winning TV series or a box office movie have instigated an appetite for Britons to delve back into paperbacks,” Travelodge spokesperson Shakila Ahmad told the Daily Mail.

The list also includes a number of coloring books, presumably left behind by children, and President Donald Trump’s "The Art of the Deal."

Travelodge says more than 70,000 books have been left behind in the chain’s 42,000 rooms across the U.K.
