If your iPhone is struggling to keep up with its storage demands, you’re not alone. But it is going to take some changing on your part to gain back valuable storage space — and that could possibly include deleting a few apps that are taking up a ton of space.

These resource-intensive apps are taking up storage space that you could otherwise be using to download apps you love, snap and store more photos and videos, and make room for files you need. According to Johan Alexander, CEO of APKCima, these are the unexpected apps that take up the most storage on Apple devices — deleting them can help free up tons of space.

Unused Social Media Apps

Most iPhone users install a lot of social media apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, and more, according to Alexander. However, he notes, most of the time few apps remain no longer actively use, which becomes a primary cause of the use of significant storage space on your phone. “Moreover, these apps often cache large amounts of media, including images, videos, and documents, which accumulate over time,” Alexander says.

Luckily, the solution is simple: uninstall unused apps.

“The user must identify social media apps that you no longer use and uninstall them from your device,” Alexander says. “This frees up storage space and prevents them from impacting your phone’s performance.”

Gaming Apps with Large Files

“iPhone provides the best quality processor which enables devices to perform more efficiently,” Alexander says. “Due to best performance, users mainly install extensive highly quality graphic gaming apps and large game files, which can significantly occupy storage space on your phone. These apps require ample storage for game installations, additional downloadable content, and temporary files.”

Deleting games that you never play is your first step toward gaining back storage. First, you should identify all those installed gaming apps that are no longer playing or in use and uninstall immediately them from the device, according to Alexander. “This step will enhance storage space in iPhone,” he says.

Boost your phone’s ability to store more files by cutting down on the number of social media and gaming apps that you keep active on your device — especially if you find yourself using these apps less frequently (remember: they’re still taking up space even when you’re not using them).
