In a clip of The Nanny going viral on Twitter, Fran Fine (played by Fran Drescher) refuses to cross a picket line with Mr. Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy).

"Mr. Sheffield, I can't go in there," she tells him. "My mother had three rules: Never make contact with a public toilet. Never ever ever cross a picket line. What was the third one? Oh yeah. Never wear musk oil to the zoo."

You can watch the full clip here:

As writer Alanna Bennett tweeted, "I will say a very fitting episode of The Nanny is that she almost gets fired because she REFUSES to cross a picket line! (It was literally the moment that taught me about picket lines as a kid)"

Drescher, who played Fran Fine, the flashy girl from Flushing, is now president of SAG-AFTRA, and has been front and center as the actors' union has decided to go on strike to get a fair contract. In a speech announcing the SAG-AFTRA strike, she said, "The eyes of the world and particularly the eyes of labor are upon us. What happens to us is important. What's happening to us is happening across all fields of labor."

That episode going viral, season two, episode 11 "The Strike," aired nearly thirty years ago, and is prescient in Drescher's current dedication to labor issues. "She hasn’t been in the public eye much in the last few years but she has a huge fan base who remember her from 'The Nanny,' where her character was decidedly working class but living in wealth," Aymar Jèan "AJ" Christian, a communication studies professor at Northwestern University, told the Washington Post. "It's almost like she came back to life but as a more anti-corporate, anti-wealth character in line with the times."

Now, therefore, is a perfect time to watch (or rewatch) Drescher's hit The Nanny.
