The Academy just officially announced another winner!
Tonight, Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 92nd annual Academy Awards. During the ceremony, 1917 took home the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing.
The other nominees included Ad Astra, Ford v Ferrari, Joker and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Joker leads the nominations this year with a whopping 11 nods including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and 1917 also received 10 nods while Ford v Ferrari landed a respectable four nominations. This is the only nomination for Ad Astra.
The Academy first debuted the category back in 1930 to recognize the finest sound mixing or recording (often integrating the soundscape with the score). In addition to Bohemian Rhapsody, previous winners include Dunkirk, Hacksaw Ridge, Mad Max: Fury Road, Whiplash, Gravity, Les Misérables, Hugo and Inception.
Talk about a stacked category. Congrats to everyone involved!
