This 19-day Train Trip Takes You Through Some of Canada's Most Spectacular Fall Foliage

The crisp air is starting to creep in, calling on us all to unpack our warm mittens, fuzzy hats, and oversized sweaters to enjoy the changing of the season. Specifically, to get out and see the dazzling display of fall foliage. The journey, which departs from Vancouver, is one of the longest train trips available in Canada, lasting for 19 days and 18 nights, all but guaranteeing spectacular fall views along the way. 

On the trip, guests will board the Rocky Mountaineer Train to make their way from Vancouver to Kamloops, British Columbia, enjoying tasty meals and views along the way. The train then makes an overnight journey to the quaint mountain town of Banff, where they can take part in an afternoon sightseeing tour on a gondola or head on a lake cruise.

Next, travelers will head to Lake Louise to view the foliage alongside the glacier-capped mountains, and then on to Jasper National Park, where they can hop aboard a helicopter for an icefields tour.

The journey continues through the gorgeous Canadian Prairies, through Ontario, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal, and Quebec City, and ending the ride in Halifax. Travelers get to disembark the train and snap as many fall foliage photos as they want along the way.

For the leg of the trip, guests will ride on the Silverleaf train, a single-level dome car with massive picture windows for optimal viewing opportunities. (Breakfast and lunch service at your seat included.) Guests will also ride on the Goldleaf train, a bi-level train car with domed windows for views that surround the entire train.

Guests can choose from the Comfort, Superior, or Deluxe Level, which includes overnight stays in 3.5, four-star, and five-star accommodations, respectively. Trips begin at $10,080 per person.
