This New 180-Foot Catamaran Comes With Its Own Striking Waterfall

Hydro Tec unveiled a suitably splashy catamaran concept at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

The sleek new 180-footer, which takes design cues from the Mediterranean Sea, features one striking pool, a waterfall, and two Jacuzzis. The cat isn’t just inspired by the sea, though; it can perform on it, too. The Italian design studio tapped into its engineering prowess to create a blue-water cruiser that is capable of tackling transoceanic voyages.

“When we decided to develop this concept, we had a clear goal: we wanted to incorporate all our experience and expertise into it, enriched by our know-how in the field of explorer yachts,” Hydro Tec president and founder Sergio Cutolo said in a statement.

To that end, the multihull will be equipped with two MTU engines and two electric motors that will allow it to reach speeds of up to 10 knots in diesel-electric mode. (The studio didn’t provide an estimated range.)

“A fundamental part of the brief was also to create a project imbued with a strong Mediterranean inspiration, celebrating our beloved sea and its unparalleled diversity,” Cutolo added.

The hull showcases clean, sinuous lines and an eye-catching strip of light that stretches from bow to stern. The superstructure floats elegantly above the hull, while the wheelhouse has been cleverly concealed on the fifth deck so as not to detract from the minimalist silhouette.

The light and airy interior artfully reflects the Mediterranean style, with a bold palette, luxurious organic materials, and sweeping ocean views. The studio says the living quarters recall the typical layout of the residences that overlook the Med. All four decks can be navigated by an elevator, with the upper decks earmarked for guests and the two hulls reserved for crew.

Occupying prime position in the bow of the upper deck, the full-beam owner’s suite offers nearly 1,000 square feet of space, a private balcony, and a Jacuzzi. A stone’s throw away is a gym and spa that could be turned into a second owner’s stateroom if desired. The remaining staterooms pay homage to notable European destinations, including Santorini, Casablanca, and the like. Elsewhere indoors, the scenic main salon sports a generous dining area and lounge for entertaining.

Outside, the aft is home to the aforementioned pool, a bar, a lounge, and a fire pit. The foredeck sports another fire pit and Jacuzzi for seafarers looking to relax as if they were at a hotel in the Med.
