18 times gays and girls collaborated on great pop songs
Pop girlies and LGBTQ+ artists go together like poppers and lube.
Some of the all-time best songs are duets, and many of those come when a queer singer and girl singer team up to make some magic.
With Ariana Grande and Troye Sivan teaming up for the second time on the remix of Ariana’s new track “Supernatural,” we wanted to take a look back at some of our all-time favorite collaborations between pop girlies and gays!

Grande just released this remix of her new song featuring Troye Sivan on the “Slightly Deluxe” edition of her album Eternal Sunshine! It’s the second time they’ve worked together.

One of Ariana’s early hits, “Popular Song” was released on Mika’s third album, The Origin of Love, and featured singer Priscilla Renea. Ariana joined in on the song, replacing Renea for the single version, released in 2012, which was later featured on her debut album Yours Truly.

One of the best songs of the decade is this 2019 banger by nonbinary Oscar- and Grammy-winning artist Sam Smith and Fifth Harmony alum Normani that has been certified 4x Platinum in the US and Platinum in ten other countries.

Kim Petras became the first out trans artist to win a singing Grammy when she and Smith won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for this song at the 65 Grammy Awards. It was Smith and Petras’ first number one single in the US.

“Cold Heart,” which interpolates several Elton John songs including “Rocket Man,” was John’s first appearance in the Billboard top 40 since 1997’s “Candle in the Wind,” and his first Hot 100 appearance since “Someday Out of the Blue,” recorded in 2000 for the movie The Road to El Dorado. It peaked at number 7 on the Hot 100.

“If I Told You That” was originally released as a part of Houston’s 1998 album My Love Is Your Love, but in 2000 she released this reworked version with George Michael.

This cover of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross’s hit was released in 1994 (Vandross was not publicly out during his lifetime), and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
13. Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera - "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely"

This 2000 single was included on Martin’s sixth album Sound Loaded. It’s considered an all-time great love song, and reached number 13 on the Hot 100 and was nominated for a Grammy.

Swift released this 2019 song on her album Lover, featuring the lead singer of Panic! At the Disco. It was a number 2 hit.

Kesha brought out the Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia for this song off her fourth studio album High Road.
16. Lil Nas X ft. Cardi B - "Rodeo"

Released on Lil Nas X’s EP 7, “Rodeo” also featured a remix featuring Nas. The song reached number 22 on the Hot 100.

Lil Nas X’s first big hit was “Old Town Road,” which featured Billy Ray Cyrus on a remix, and when he released his debut album, Lil Nas X went back to the Cyrus family to collab with Miley on this song.
