Although I don’t have the largest of kitchens, one thing I will say about mine is that its drawers are pretty spacious. They’re both wide and deep, extending about 18 inches back and 30 inches across. You would think this would make storage easy, but a couple of weeks after moving into my apartment, the drawers were already a mess of silverware, cooking utensils, oven mitts, and miscellaneous tools. There was too much space for them to float around, with nothing corralling them into their own little sections. After some close calls with sharp knives, I knew I needed a solution to the mayhem. In looking at different drawer organizers, I turned to editor-loved brand mDesign, which is known for its effective and budget-friendly home organizing solutions. I came across mDesign’s five-slot plastic drawer organizer and, after measuring my top drawer, figured it was just what I needed. I’m happy to report that I was right.

What is the mDesign Plastic Kitchen Drawer Organizer?

The best thing about this mDesign organizer is its versatility. Although my roommates and I use ours for silverware, you could use the divider to hold all kinds of tools and gadgets, including pizza cutters, can openers, bar tools, whisks, and more. Its five compartments are fairly slim yet still able to accommodate wider items, so there’s no shortage of things you can place within them. And, you’re not just limited to using the organizer in the kitchen. You could also use it for makeup storage in a vanity drawer, or even in a desk drawer for pens, Post-its, and more. What’s more, this product is made of BPA-free, easy-to-clean, shatter-proof plastic, and it also has non-slip feet on the bottom that keep it in place.

Why I Love the mDesign Plastic Kitchen Drawer Organizer

After determining that this 14-inch by 11-inch organizer would fit in my drawer, I also decided I wanted it because of its sleek appearance. I’ve seen some dowdy drawer organizers, so I appreciate that this one looks clean and modern. But most importantly, it has made home cooking (and eating) way more efficient. Whereas I used to have to dig through the drawer to find a single spoon, knife, or straw cleaner, I can now reach in and grab whatever I need in a second. And, I keep sharper knives outside of the organizer, so I’m not at risk of getting cut when reaching in.

Of course, I’m not the only one who loves this organizer. Amazon shoppers also agree that it arrives exactly as described. “I got two of these to organize a messy kitchen drawer, and they make a huge difference,” one reviewer wrote. “They hold different sizes of kitchen gadgets and make the drawer look well-organized. I would definitely recommend.” Plus, at $18, this mDesign pick won’t break the bank. In short, it’s perfect in every way!
