This 177-mile trail circles the entire Denver metro
DENVER (KDVR) — The weather is warming up, which means nature-loving Denverites are likely itching to find a fresh new trail to explore.
One option could be the Denver Orbital Trail, which is a 177-mile, 28-segment trail that encircles all of the Denver metro area.
The trail is made up of segments of smaller trails across the area.

FOX31’s Courtney Fromm spoke to Michael Tormey, who designed the trail and has already vetted the walk himself.
“I’ve walked every inch — all 177 miles,” Tormey said. “I didn’t do it in one go, of course, it took me several months and several weekends.”
Most of the trail is paved, and Tormey said it is suitable for those who want to walk, run or even bike it.
Tormey said one day he was looking for a new hike in his local area and the idea snowballed from there.
“My mind started going wild, I started dreaming bigger and bigger and bigger until I realized that this was a thing you could do,” he said.
Each of the 28 segments starts and ends at a parking lot, and over half of them can be accessed through RTD as well, according to Tormey.
The trail has a website dedicated to it, where people can explore the segments and find a place to start their journey.
