There’s a wide range on the market with sex toys, and some are a little more intimidating than others. But there’s a type that’s consistently a favorite with sex toy veterans and newbies alike: the bullet vibrator. “Bullet vibrators are good for first-time exploration as they are discreet, easy to use, and not intimidating at all,” says Debra Laino, D.H.S., a board-certified relationship therapist and sex educator.

O’Reilly calls bullets “a great first vibrator because they’re not particularly intimidating,” but adds that “more experienced users still love them because they get the job done.” They’re also helpful for when you want to hit that just-right spot.

“Bullets are great for precise stimulation,” Laino says. You can use a bullet over your clitoris, nipples, vulva and more. “Play around with it, lightly use it in your inner thighs, and work towards the vulva, the labia, and the clitoris,” advises Alejandra Lucatero, an L.C.S.W. who specializes in sexual health at the Hawaii Center for Sexual and Relationship Health in Honolulu, Hawaii. “These bullet vibrators can be used for self-pleasure or as foreplay in this manner.”
