St. Patrick’s Day is a centuries-old tradition. And every year, you have to dig out of your closet some article of green — whether it’s a clothing item, pair of shoes, or jewelry piece — to show your pride and avoid getting pinched. The tradition is always the same: to celebrate Irish heritage and, of course, drink copious amounts of alcohol (for those who choose to participate).
It’s a tradition that seems to have begun a few centuries after the death of St. Patrick on March 17 in 461 AD. This year, how about opting out of buying a cheeky leprechaun hat or shamrock graphic tee and instead choosing something you can wear well past the holiday.
