Triple B: It was expected that, based on the presumptions and unsupported accusations, that the Senate would not (even close) have the 2/3 vote to remove from office, with flimsy articles of impeachment. Pelosi should have ripped those articles in half, not the State of the Union Address. An investigation should be instituted on how much was known by the Intelligence Committee, chaired by Adam Schiff, about the onset of COVID-19. If our 17 intelligence agencies all agreed upon what Russia was doing, it has been suggested that Adam Schiff and Pelosi were appraised of the onset of COVID-109, and elected to ignore it and expend 100% effort into the impeachment inquisition. Even more troubling is why Schiff’s committee was assigned to the work properly conducted by the Judicial Committee. This travesty has cost many American lives. Congress is not empowered, under the Constitution to be an investigative branch of government. The word oversight is no where to be found int eh Constitution. Article I section 8 specifically outlines what Congress’s responsibilities are, basically “provide for the common defence and general welfare of the United States”. COVID-19 and Congress March 17, 2020 How did Congress, specifically the Intelligence Committee (SCHIFF), who's responsibility is for the "common Defense and general welfare of the United States" (Article I, Section 8) miss this crisis . . . His committee was wrongly assigned to conduct the impeachment inquisition, not the Judiciary committee, whose job it was. OH YES, they were too busy passing those failed articles of impeachment, and holding a trial in the Senate to remove a president from office over some controversial phone call. The “grand finally” of a 3-year effort to overturn the 2016 election. Maybe their oversight responsibilities need to be redefined. Congress should not be conducting criminal justice investigation. That is why we have Special Prosecutors, and Special Councils to allow Congress to do their Constitutionally defined job. Pelosi may be proud that Trump was impeached for life, I'm troubled that the cost was not worth those who lost their life in the process.
