Happy Holidays! Here is a list of local Christmas tree farms that offer trees for sale, many of which allow you to cut your own, plus a few locally-owned retailers that sell pre-cut Christmas trees in the Louisville area.

Places where you can cut a Christmas tree near Louisville

Cathole Bend Plantation Christmas Tree Farm

WHAT: Spruce, pine and fir trees to cut. Saws provided. The farm also has wreaths, swags and other greens for purchase, and tree stands.

WHERE: 1243 Cathole Bend Road, Lancaster, in Garrard County, about 100 miles from Louisville

WHEN: Nov. 24-26, Dec. 1-3, and 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call for later dates

Goebel Farms

WHAT: Goebel Farms has a limited number of trees available for purchase from the field. Farm staff will cut any tree shorter than 7-and-a-half feet that is 5-and-a-half feet wide or wider. All trees will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. It has five varieties of trees: White Pine, Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, and Blue Spruce.

WHERE: Near Darmstadt, Indiana, about 121 miles from Louisville

WHEN: Nov. 24 through Dec. 23: Tuesday-Friday, 1-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

WHAT: Pre-cut White Pine and Fraser Fir. Customers are not permitted to dig trees. Fresh wreaths are available. Mantel and door swags are for sale at the gift shop.

WHEN: Opens Thanksgiving weekend, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until trees are gone. Call before you come after Dec. 15.

Robert's Christmas Tree Farm

WHAT: Scotch Pine, White Pine, Canaan Fir, Fraser Fir, Norway Spruce and Blue Spruce. Free tractor-wagon rides to the fields. Balled living Christmas trees. Cut trees are 4 to 12 feet tall and balled trees are up to 6 feet tall. Homemade wreaths, garlands, centerpieces, and grave blankets for sale, Christmas shop, and visit with Santa.

WHAT: White Pine, Spruce and Fir. Farm prefers to cut trees. Trees are fresh cut or customers can tag now and cut later. Pre-cut Fraser Fir, White Pine and B&B (live trees, dug, balled and burlap). Only digging small trees this year, nothing taller than 4 feet.
