This jaw-dropping outdoor space was designed by lauded Jazz Age architect Maurice Fatio in 1928 and was restored to its former glory by designer Susan Zises Green in 2016. Fatio artfully made the most of this narrow but long space to stretch out the lounge area, giving it a leisurely feel. A mostly covered bar and ceiling fans ensure you can enjoy drinks on the patio no matter how hot the Florida sun gets.

Alfresco Living at Its Finest
"We designed this outdoor kitchen and bar for a family of five who loves spending their time poolside," says Houston-based designer Marie Flanigan. "With a sunken bar, full kitchen, hibachi grill, and crawfish station, it’s truly an outdoor entertainer's dream! Natural wood cabinetry and hand-painted tiles feel casual and welcoming, and the concrete counters are practically indestructible."

This earthy outdoor space lies in Ibiza's La Granja, a biodynamic farm and inn. The farm's design is heavily influenced by wabi-sabi, the Japanese art of embracing the natural — flaws and all — which leans towards a more rustic, organically styled home. We love this relaxing outdoor bar, inviting one and all, not only to dine, but to simply be.

"A bar cart is a simple yet impactful way to transform a patio into an outdoor cocktail room," Christina Samatas and Renee DiSanto of Park & Oak tell us. "For this space, we centered the porch around a rattan bar cart for a touch of vintage character that uniquely contrasts against the brick and paneled ceiling. We always like to make any outdoor space feel like a continuation of the interior, so we chose artwork and decorative pillows that would create a sense of cohesiveness with the rest of the home. To carry the garden up to the porch, we added a few potted plants and flowers, elevated with a rustic copper pot and woven basket. The mixture of rustic and sophisticated elements comes together to create a timeless and functional outdoor space fit for enjoying cocktails alfresco."

Houston-based designer Marie Flanigan says she designed this outdoor area to be an extension of the home's interior space. A grill, sink, and fridge are right at your fingertips, while the rest of the kitchen is just a few steps away behind the glass. An antique bronze hood range and limestone wall complement the interior design.
This setup not only helps you perfect outdoor living, it's also ideal for those desiring more space for cooking, eating, and entertaining year-round.
