On America’s birthday, we celebrate by spending time with friends and family, watching a firework spectacular, and chowing down on some good food, of course. You can expect the spread to be filled with chips, dips, hot dogs, some burgers, and a few salads to boot. But the best is saved for last, and that’s dessert. Pies, cakes, and tarts—oh my! 

Any dessert is a Fourth of July dessert if it’s eaten on Independence Day, but we all know this holiday calls for particularly patriotic, summery recipes—aka anything involving fruit, especially mixed berries. If you’ve been assigned dessert duty for the family potluck, we’ve got your back. We covered the basics with your cakes, cobblers, and crisps, but we threw in a few wildcards, too, just to keep ‘em guessing.
