15 Men’s Group Halloween Costume Trends For The Whole Squad

Chances are, if you’re planning on dressing up for Halloween this year, you’re not going to do it by yourself. Unless you’re busy breaking a solo trick-or-treating record, you’ll most likely end up needing a costume for a Halloween party. Instead of hitting your group chat with the “What are you guys planning on wearing?” text, suggest a theme for everyone to dress up as together. There are plenty of men’s group Halloween costume ideas for 2023 to pick from this year. Some are throwbacks, some are based on recent pop-culture moments, and some are just simple fan favorites.

The best part is that a lot of these costumes don’t require that much prep time. Since it’s already mid-October, a simple group costume is probably the best-case scenario for you. For example, if you’re a fan of The Bear TV series on Hulu, there’s a super easy costume idea for you. All of the ingredients you’ll need include a t-shirt, a denim apron, and some sort of kitchen utensil (which you hopefully already own). The easier the costume idea, the more likely you are to get everyone in your friend group to agree on it.

If I’m underestimating your commitment to the holiday, I apologize. There are also a few high-effort ideas included in the list below. Life-like costumes of each character in SpongeBob Squarepants? Yes. A serious commitment to Marvel’s Avengers? Absolutely.

If you always find yourself on kitchen duty at parties, play into it! Have your friends join you in character and dress up as the kitchen staff from The Bear. All you’ll need is a white t-shirt and a cool denim apron. The best part is that you can reuse this costume when you’re actually cooking for date night.

The Barbie Businessmen

Grab a pink tie and a pair of rollerskates and upgrade your 9-5 look. While most people will probably go as Barbie or Ken, you can skate circles around them as a Barbie businessman. Plus, you probably won’t have to buy a new outfit.

Teamwork makes the dream work, right? Prove it with full-team AFC Richmond uniforms from Ted Lasso. Your friend group will have to fight it out on the field to determine who will get to dress up as the title role.

It doesn’t matter how old this movie is or how many times you’ve seen people wear this group costume before, it always works. Put the costume to the test and actually play a game of dodgeball while you’re at it.

The Hangover

You know the saying “You are what you eat”? Well, in this case, you are how much you drink. Get ahead of the morning after and dress as the characters from The Hangover for your party. One person in the group must go as the baby.

BTS

If you’ve ever dreamt about putting on a well-synchronized vocal and dance performance with your bros, you’ve got to convince the group to go as BTS. Bonus points if you have another group dressed as your paparazzi and bodyguards.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? You do. Bring SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward back together for a night of fun (Krusty Krab anyone?). If you’re feeling really creative, have someone at your party go as Ariana Grande (who is now allegedly dating Ethan Slater who played the role of SpongeBob on Broadway).

Taylor Swift & The Eras Tour

Ok Swifties, show off your Taylor Swift knowledge with a group Eras Tour-inspired look. There are 10 eras to choose from and no shortage of inspiration. Have everyone in your group wear a different era.

Beach Ken(s)

Embrace the fact that your job really might just be “beach” and dress up as the Beach Kens from the Barbie movie. This is a great last-minute idea for a group because you probably already have swim trunks in your closet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Sometimes a classic costume is the best one. Get nostalgic with your friend group and pick a Ninja Turtle to be for the night. I call dibs on the blue one.

Mario Kart

Put your old Wii remote to good use with a Mario Kart-themed costume. Choosing a character to dress up as is only half of the fun–set up an obstacle course of some form of a race and get competitive.

Squid Game

This is a game you don’t have to act out in order to dress the part. This costume will be easy for other people to recognize and very comfortable to wear.

If your friend group has an ongoing battle in your group chat over which comic franchise is the best, you can put it to the test with a costume contest. May the best superhero costume win.

I have yet to meet a male friend group that doesn’t quote this show on a daily basis. You might as well put your money (in the form of a costume investment) where your mouth is.

Top Gun

How many people in your group have the Miles Teller Top Gun mustache? Be honest. If the answer is more than one, you’re practically required to go as characters from Top Gun for Halloween.
