14 Shows Like ‘Breaking Bad’ You Can Binge-Watch Now

It’s hard to believe that AMC’s Breaking Bad premiered over 12 years ago. Yet, somehow, it’s remained one of our go-to binges (especially this summer).

The series follows Walter White, a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher who got diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. So, naturally, he turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family's future.

But now that we’ve rewatched the hit series, as well as the follow-up movie, more times than we'd care to admit, we've turned our attention to other shows like Breaking Bad. Read on for 14 we think are just as binge-worthy.

1. ‘Better Call Saul’

Who’s in it? Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks

What’s it about? We know it seems like an obvious choice, but what would this list be without the actual spinoff of the hit AMC show? Set as a Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul follows small-time attorney Jimmy McGill on his journey to eventually become the morally-challenged lawyer who represents Walter White.

2. ‘Empire’

Who’s in it? Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Bryshere Y. Gray

What’s it about? As Hip-hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment, Lucious Lyon is forced to face reality when a medical diagnosis reveals he will become incapacitated. Now, he must choose a successor among his children while simultaneously dealing with the turmoil from his previous marriage.

3. ‘Peaky Blinders’

Who’s in it? Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill, Helen McCrory

What’s it about? Peaky Blinders is a gang in 1919 Birmingham, England, run by Thomas Shelby. His goal is to expand the family business via illegal bets, illicit firearms and plenty of shady deals (and, apparently, he’ll stop at nothing to do so).

4. ‘Ozark’

Who’s in it: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, Julia Garner

What’s it about: A financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks (which turns out is a real place), where he must launder money to keep from being murdered by his drug boss.

5. ‘Narcos’

Who’s in it: Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook

What’s it about: Narcos tells the true (not to mention, brutal) story of Pablo Escobar as well as other infamously violent and powerful drug cartels in Colombia.

6. ‘Succession’

Who’s in it? Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook

What’s it about? When Logan Roy, CEO of one of the world's largest media and entertainment conglomerates, considers retirement, each of his four grown children scrambles for power, proving just how dysfunctional this wealthy, American family can be.

7. ‘Sons of Anarchy’

Who’s in it: Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Mark Boone Junior, Kim Coates

What’s it about: SOA tells the story of a notorious outlaw motorcycle club that operates both illegal and legal businesses in the small town of Charming. But in all honesty, we started watching for Charlie Hunnam.

8. ‘Ray Donovan’

Who’s in it? Liev Schreiber, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Jon Voight

What’s it about? Lasting an impressive seven seasons, the series follows Ray Donovan, a professional "fixer" for the wealthy in California. However, when his father is released from prison, he must maintain his successful career while simultaneously trying to solve his own family problems.

9. ‘The Sopranos’

Who’s in it: James Gandolfini, Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli

What’s it about: Created by David Chase, The Sopranos follows Tony Soprano—husband, father and mob boss—whose stresses of professional and private life land him in the office of his therapist.

10. ‘Deadwood’

Who’s in it? Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker

What’s it about? Set in the late 1800s in the town of Deadwood, the show follows a band of criminals that migrate to the South Dakota hills in hopes of getting rich during the largest gold strike in U.S. history. Did we mention the town is literally lawless?

11. ‘Weeds’

Who’s in it? Mary-Louise Parker, Hunter Parrish, Alexander Gould

What’s it about? This charming, yet dark suburban dramedy revolves around a troubled mother living a dual life as a parent and a marijuana pusher (sound familiar?) after the death of her husband. As it turns out, her neighbors and friends are not as naive as she once believed.

14. ‘Mayans M.C.’

Who’s in it? JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Sarah Bolger

What’s it about? The next chapter in the Sons of Anarchy saga, Mayans M.C. is set in a post-Jax Teller world and follows Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes as he tried to readjust to his life after getting released from prison. It’s not long before he’s discovered as a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the California-Mexico border.
