When you hear a home described as being 200 square feet, visions of large closets or tiny homes might appear in your mind. Even though the number is technically smaller than 500 or 1,000 square feet, it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to feel tiny — in fact, some homes of this size might even feel airy and spacious with clever layouts.

So, if you’re moving into a 200-square-foot home and want a little inspiration or are just curious about how people maximize small spaces, you’re in luck. Here’s a list of our favorite 200-square-foot spaces (which was no easy feat as they’re all incredible!). 4. Before and After: A 200-Square-Foot 1977 Airstream Was Completely Gutted and Gorgeously Rebuilt

Sheena and Jason (plus their senior dog, Riley!) travel the U.S. year-round in their renovated, bohemian 1977 airstream. The pair work full-time from the van and wanted the space to be comfortable, so they spent a lot of time planning before moving in. “I designed the entire space in 3D and spent hours virtually navigating the space. I didn’t want to leave any space underutilized, but at the same time, a clean, open space was also important,” Sheena shared at the time of the home tour.

5. This Cozy 200-Square-Foot NYC Apartment Is Inspired by English Country Decor

Cottagecore was a hot design trend in 2023, and it’s easy to see why. Just look at Bailey Heldmar’s 200-square-foot apartment in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan. Dreaming of the English countryside, Heldmar leaned into coziness in her space. “My unit is on a low floor and doesn’t get a lot of light, so I sometimes call it my ‘cave.’ I leaned into it and made a cozy, warm retreat from the hustle of NYC,” she shared at the time.
