14 dogs surrendered from breeding facilities now available for adoption in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — More than a dozen dogs are looking for their new families in the D.C. area after they were surrendered from the Midwest.

The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) in D.C. said that it welcomed 14 dogs that were surrendered from commercial breeding facilities.

It took in these dogs as part of a partnership with Bissell Pet Foundation and other organizations from across the nation. Almost 200 dogs and puppies were transported.

HRA said that the 14 new dogs at its shelter are all small dogs. Some of the breeds are Havanese, Schnauzer, Shih Tzu and Poodle. These dogs became available for adoption on Friday.

To help these dogs — and other large dogs that have been waiting at the shelter — find new homes, HRA is offering a $30 adoption fee for any dog weighing 30 pounds or more. This offer is active from Friday through Sunday.

You can view all adoptable dogs at HRA on its website.
