Since 1946, the incomparable Cannes Film Festival has been a must-not-miss event for many. The nearly two-week-long festival, typically held in May, brings together some of the world’s best filmmakers, actors, producers, critics, and more for a truly glamorous time. Even though the glamorous affair is filled with no shortage of fancy dinners and elegant after-parties, the film premieres are perhaps some of the most anticipated events on the itinerary.

From Sofia Coppola walking the red carpet alongside Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning to a 30-something-year-old Martin Scorsese making an appearance at this famous festival in the ‘70s, ahead, we look at some of our favorite moments of directors at their Cannes film premieres.

Martin Scorsese
