13 High-Protein Salads That'll Actually Fill You Up

As much as I love salads, I'll be the first to admit that they aren't always filling. Many recipes out there go hard on the veggies and not much else, so they're often lacking the protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats you need to really feel satisfied. Meaning that, unless you're pairing your salad with something else—like a cup of chili or a sandwich—you'll probably end up feeling hungry again in the not-so-distant future.

But since it's mega hot out right now and salads are kind of all I can eat without turning into a human puddle, I decided to take one for the team and track down as many high-protein salads as I could find. You know, salads that are actually satisfying and will keep me full for more than just a couple of hours.

These 13 ideas all fit the bill perfectly. Thanks to an array of both animal- and plant-based protein sources, they're all packed with the 15 to 30 grams of protein registered dietitians recommend eating with each meal. Half of these recipes are chicken and seafood numbers, and the other half are completely vegetarian—so you're sure to find a filling salad you love in the mix.
