When creating our list of the best golf pants, we tested the functionality of each one by playing at least a full round of golf. After playing, we also took into account each pant's style, especially when it comes to versatility in wear. The goal was to find a pair of performance-driven bad boys you can wear right off the course and into your other weekend plans.

What to Consider

Material

Most golf pants will be made of fabrics that have a level of stretch and moisture-wicking, however each pant will have its own way of putting those features together. For example, sometimes a golf pant is made to prioritize being lightweight and cooling, and so the fabric might lose a little durability and softness in the design process. On the flip side, a brand might want to make a golf pant that's sturdy and comfortable (almost like a chino pant), and so the tradeoff is it will be a little heavier and trap more heat.

Fit

Golf pants are usually constructed to have more room added in the seat and quads, so if you like a slim-fit cut you can go and buy a slim-fit golf pant and still get the look you like while having extra space already built in. A classic fit is going to be a near straight fit, which some of our editors prefer since the cut can present a cool throwback look when done right. A classic fit is also going to have the most amount of room in the legs and seat. In our honest opinion, we find a tapered golf pant to be the best fit for most guys. It's slimming in all the right areas while still providing space where you need it most. A tapered golf pant is also going to look stylish when worn off the course after a round of play. In terms of an athletic fit pant, we only recommend this cut of golf pant if you are already wearing athletic fit jeans and pants.

Color

When building your golf wardrobe, start with dark colors such as black, navy and grey. These colors will easily match with what's already in your closet and can be worn off the course. Lighter colors like white and salmon are more fun to play with and look sharp when put together correctly—but they're likely not as versatile to match with what's already in your wardrobe.

Versatility

Unless you're competing in golf tournaments or playing multiple times a week, golf pants should provide versatility in wear off the course. We curated all our best golf pants above with consideration to lifestyle use, and so each pant we recommend is going to be acceptable on some level to wear around when not playing. Lastly, we considered golf pants that have gained long-term praise from the golf community for years.

Open To Close Pant

TM's Open to Close Pant is our favorite golf pant in 2024. When testing these pants, we found they had ample room in the seat and quads as well as the perfect amount of stretch. They also have a solid blend of breathability and durability—all while offering a stylish silhouette that looks good with everything from a vibrant golf polo to a buttery henley.

To elaborate more on how much we like the Open to Close Pant, we've played multiple rounds of golf in several different climates—from Florida all the way to Scotland. We've worn them for entire afternoons after playing and for entire days when going to the office. In other words, you can wear from sun up to sun down, no matter what’s on the agenda. The pant is a match made in heaven for the modern man's wardrobe, and it holds up exceptionally well after each washing cycle.

In terms of what color to pick, we recommend the heather black pair—it's sharp and will match the most with what you've got in your wardrobe.

ABC Slim-Fit Golf Trousers

Have you ever wondered, "What if Lululemon transformed its famous ABC Pant into a golf pant?" Well, that's essentially what the athleisure brand did with the Slim-Fit Golf Trouser, an ultra-comfortable piece that has equal amount of space and stretch for taking big time hacks.

While we recommend this trouser to pretty much any golfer, the downside is that it’s one of the most expensive bottoms on this list. But hey, there are some major plus points for the fabric’s features. For starters, the design integrated a ventilated gusset, which allows for better circulation in the crotch area, while reducing any chance of moisture buildup. It’s also made with UPF 40+ rating, so those who prefer protective clothing for their skin will find these worth a look.

Our style editors are all about the tapered look. That’s because the fabric lightly follows the natural contours of your glutes and thighs, providing a flattering appearance. It strikes a balance between being form-fitting and offering enough ease for comfort and mobility. Other notable features include reflective cuff details, elastic panels on the waistband and accessible drop pockets to carry your golf balls. Did we mention the gold trousers are water-resistant, too?

Clubhouse Pant

Greatness Wins has a core collection of athletic wear that performs with the best of them. What's also great is the brand has several golf pieces that are constructed to high standards too. At the center of the golf collection is the Clubhouse Pant, a garment that's big on moisture-wicking and stretch.

When playing in these we found the pant is incredibly breathable and lightweight. The pant fabric is thin, yet durable, allowing for smooth play even in temperatures up to 85-degrees Fahrenheit and above. The only downside to this pant is the fabric isn't as soft as some of the others on this list, which we see as a tradeoff the brand made when opting to prioritize cooling.

Fleet Jogger Pants

Vuori’s golf apparel nails that sweet spot between comfort and performance. Take the Fleet Jogger. Our editors raved about how the fabric feels super soft against your body, almost like a second skin, but without any tightness or restriction. The lightweight knit is also made with four-way stretch, which means you can easily twist and turn to unleash your swing. And let’s be real, it’s nice when a pair of golf pants can double as travel pants.

The zippered pockets are a game-changer compared to the drop-in ones on other golf pants. They’re more secure for stashing a glove or scorecard. We’re all about the snug fit around the ankles, too. It prevents excess fabric from flapping around and causing distractions while you’re getting ready to sink that six-footer.

Performance Link Pants

Made with moisture-wicking and treated with UV resistance, the Performance Link Pant is an easy go-to golf pant you can grab in a wide array of colors. When testing, we found the colors of the pant to be rich and vibrant through multiple washes, which is sometimes not the case when buying performance golf pants.

We also tried the athletic fit and were throughly impressed with the amount of space provided in the quad and the seat. You can also get these pants in other types of fits, but we think these shine the brightest in the athletic fit category.

eb66 Performance Five-Pocket Pant

One thing’s for certain: Peter Millar makes top-tier golf attire, and this five-pocket pant is a prime example. It has the right amount of performance features including moisture-wicking technology and two-way stretch. That means sweat won’t get in the way of your game and you’ll have the flexibility to move in any direction. And since it boasts this classic design, you can wear this style right off the course and out to brunch or the movies.

We tested the infinity color option, but the pant is available in a bunch of unique light and neutral tones that range from cream to sand. No matter which you decide on, they have a formal style that makes them admissible for golfing at most private country clubs. Although one might argue that the price is a little steep, the quality of the pant is super deluxe. Even after two years of regularly golfing in this pant, it still looks and feels as good as new.

Slim-Fit Stretch Golf Pant

We've said it before and we'll say it again: Amazon Essentials' golf apparel is pretty awesome. It's not the most advanced golf apparel in the game, but when you consider the pieces are made with quality performance blends and offered at a low price point, it's easy to recommend them as one of the best grab-and-go golf brands around.

What you can also do is this: buy this pair of flattering stretch-fit pants above and then match them with a high performance golf polo (like a Lululemon or an RLX polo). It's a smart way of adding a solid pant and an elite polo for under $150 total.

Despite its affordable price, the pants maintain excellent craftsmanship. The material is moisture-wicking and wrinkle-resistant, ensuring you stay cool, while still looking put-together. Plus, there’s an additional fifth pocket, perfect to stash markers and tees. We’ve worn these pants year round because they feel super comfortable and look classic, whether you’re wearing for style or sport.

Breeze Pant

FreeFly pays attention to the little details that make a big difference. From the ventilated structure and sun protection to the zippered pocket, this golf pant does not skimp on functionality. We love the straight-leg look as the fabric doesn’t cling to your leg, so you have the freedom of movement for every swing and step. They also lay neatly over your golf shoes, which means no awkward bunching or riding up.

From a style perspective, some may consider this fit a little baggy since there’s extra material around the shin and lower leg, but it doesn’t cancel out comfort. Staff Performance Pant

Wilson's Staff Performance Pant is made to go a full 18 rounds and then some. The pant is unique in the way it's made with what Wilson calls a "technical twill", a performance fabric we found feels like a quality pair of chinos—especially when it comes to thickness and durability. We also loved how the Performance Pant had deep and secure pockets, making it easy to carry our phone out onto the green for taking swing capture videos.

These pants do trap more heat when compared to some of the more breathable pairs on this list, so if you're looking for a pair of golf pants that are thin and lofty it's worth referring to something like the Open to Close Pant instead.
