12 Ways to Shop Your Closet Inspired by Spring 2020 Street Style

Nine hundred and fourteen. That’s how many street-style photos we posted from the spring 2020 shows. In a season in which sustainability was the main message, our photographer Phil Oh’s pictures are particularly instructive. There’s no one way to dress, and likewise there are different approaches to responsible fashion. Among them are buying less and buying better; upcycling; choosing secondhand or vintage; and that old standby, shopping your own closet.

The latter was top of mind when these tips were being compiled. You likely have all of the elements at hand: jacket, shirt, skirt, suit, jeans, vest, tie, tights. You might even throw in a pair of dishwashing gloves and a Sharpie for good measure. These are the dozen or so easy pieces that will take you into 2020 in style.
