12 TV Wedding Dresses That I Think Are Winners And 12 That Don't Shine All That Bright

1.I'd wear Monica's original wedding dress on Friends any chance I could get.

Monica wearing a ballgown with straps and a sweetheart neckline

Child me adored this dress so hard — like, so hard — and even though I love love love it less now (definite no to the flower on the back), it's still aces. It's one of the few sparkly wedding dresses I enjoy.

Warner Bros.

2.But I would run from Callie's wedding dress on Grey's Anatomy.

Callie wearing a dress with sparkly sleeves

The bottom and the sleeves — dear god, the sleeves — are big issues. If my friend were like, "Hey, what about this one?" I would be like, "Do you know me at all, Taylor Swift?" (I'm assuming she's my friend in this alternate universe.)

ABC

3.Tahani's dress at her and Jason's wedding on The Good Place is simple and great.

Tahani wearing a strapless dress

In general, I prefer a dress without a lot of fixings, and this is perfect in that regard. Sure, it's a tad boring — for sure too boring for Tahani — but I kind of like that. A delightful wedding dress that falls into the background isn't bad.

4.But Janet's dress on The Good Place is, sadly, a no.

Janet wearing an off-the-shoulder ballgown

I would like it so much more if it didn't have the belt! Like, if there were no belt, and if the mesh thing at the top were the same fabric as the rest of the dress, this would be a big win for me.

5.Claire's dress on Outlander is a good kind of elaborate.

Claire wearing a ballgown dress with a corset and long sleeves

Assuming I would be able to breathe, which is a big assumption, I want to try this on at least once in my life. Can you imagine the way it would feel? So powerful and fancy.

Tall Ship Productions

6.But Veronica's dress in that Riverdale dream sequence is weird, according to me, the God of Fashion.

Veronica wearing a ballgown with mesh stuff at the top

I'm not even sure what my problem is! This is kind of a good version of the mesh stuff, but it all feels a bit gauche-trying-to-be-elegant. In addition, there are too many different neck things going on. The necklace needs to leave.

7.The wedding dress Olivia wears in an alternate universe on Scandal isn't 100% perfect, but it's certainly very nice.

Scandal wearing an off-the-shoulder ballgown

It's not a complete and total yay for me because of the fabric on the top and the sparkly belt, but the silhouette is stellar. She looks fantastic.

ABC Signature

8.But the dress Izzie wears at her and Alex's wedding on Grey's Anatomy don't impress me much.

Izzie wearing a dress with a flare skirt that does out at the hips

That's not to say Izzie doesn't look good, because she does, but it's not my taste. Isn't it hard to walk in dresses with big skirts that start that low? Wouldn't you be like a penguin moving down the aisle?

ABC

9.It's not even a question: I would absolutely wear Rachel's dress from Friends.

Rachel wearing an off-the-shoulder dress and an elaborate headpiece

I mean, I would not choose to sport the veil headpiece thing, but the dress is close to wonderful. What a pretty bodice.

Warner Bros.

10.But, though it's definitely not awful, I wouldn't wear Pam's dress from The Office.

Pam wearing a dress with spaghetti straps

I like the kind-of-flow-y mood a lot, but the whole thing is basically an eh. Plus, I don't favor a mini strap on a wedding dress. I also don't favor a sparkly belt, but I think that much is clear already.

NBC

11.Yes, the final product isn't an A+, but I LOVE the idea of Jess's wedding dress on New Girl.

Jess wearing a short dress with a bow and sleeves

If I knew anything about making clothes and/or magic, I would buy this dress and make the sleeves longer. Don't tell me if that's not possible. I don't want to know.

12.But Lisa's wedding dress on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air errs too much on the side of bad.

Lisa wearing an off-the-shoulder ballgown

I can't get past the fabric and the back. If those elements were better, perhaps this would be a different story. We will never truly know.

Warner Bros.

13.Nell's wedding dress on The Haunting of Hill House is an excellent boho dress.

Nell wearing an off-the-shoulder dress with lace

In general, when it comes to wedding dresses, I either want a skirt that twirls when you dance, or I want elegant boho. This is the epitome of the latter.

Netflix

14.Then there's Cristina's dress at her and Owen's wedding on Grey's Anatomy, which may be right for some people, but it's just not right for me.

Cristina wearing a nice non-white dress

The neckline, the sleeves, and the ankle-level length are deal breakers. I could be down for a non-white dress, though, and this is a good color.

ABC

15.Wanda's dress on WandaVision is secretly beautiful.

Wanda wearing a short wedding dress

OK, yes, this looks the same length as Cristina's red one, but I'm thrilled with it here because the skirt is big and fun.

Marvel Studios

16.But Daphne's first dress on Frasier is secretly not gorgeous.

Daphne wearing a dress with a big skirt and tiny straps

I thought this dress was terrific, but then I looked at it a little bit longer and saw how low the bodice part goes, and I was like...ah, no. That's not the move with this fabric. Plus, like I said with Pam's dress, I'm not positive about tiny straps on wedding dresses.

Paramount Television

17.The dress isn't fautless, but with a few changes, I'd wear Phoebe's dress from Friends.

Phoebe wearing what seems like a silk gown with a structured bodice

If the corset situation were shorter, this would be remarkably lovely. I don't know if that's a possible alteration at all, but let's assume it is! It's more fun that way.

Warner Bros.

18.Then there's Bailey's wedding dress on Grey's Anatomy, which I stroooooooongly dislike.

Bailey wearing a strapless mermaid dress with ruffles

Look, I don't enjoy mermaid dresses. Or ruffles like this. I'm sure there are exceptions, but this dress is not one of them.

ABC

19.I didn't realize it right away, but Topanga's dress on Boy Meets World is very, very good.

Topanga wearing an off-the-shoulder dress

I wish the back of the bottom didn't have any bows/flowers, but other than that, this is truly awesome.

Michael Jacobs Productions

20.But Amy's dress on Brooklyn Nine-Nine is bad. It's bad.

Amy wearing a semi-big skirt

I don't even understand the appeal of this one. My favorite thing about the dress is that Gina was originally going to wear it, at Amy and Jake's wedding. LOL.

Fremulon

21.Sure, I'd try on the dress Monica ends up wearing for her wedding on Friends.

Monica wearing a somewhat form-fitting dress

It's not all that similar to most wedding dresses I like, but it's nice. The sleeves are good, the neckline is solid, and the whole vibe is classy. I'd surprise myself if I adored the dress after trying it on, but I'd try it on.

Warner Bros.

22.But Cristina's dress at her and Burke's wedding on Grey's Anatomy is another one that's perfect for someone who isn't me.

Cristina wearing a strapless mermaid dress

Mermaid dresses are not meant for my eyes! I can see the world where I think this is a great dress though, if that makes sense. If you love it, I happily agree to disagree. No qualms.

ABC

23.And finally, I want to wear Cece's exemplary dress at her and Schmidt's wedding on New Girl, please.

The silhouette, the neckline, the white with gold overlay, the simplicity of the whole thing, it's all a dream.

24.But please, never ever make me wear Diane's outfit at her and Frasier's imaginary wedding on Cheers.

Diane wearing a midi skirt and matching jacket outfit

I understand it was 1985 (and it's Diane Chambers), but oh my goodness. Nothing about this is my kind of thing. I'm vehemently opposed.
