12 Fabulous Rooms from the 2020 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens
Design fans rejoice! The latest installment of the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens is here and will be open to visitors from July 11 through August 9, 2020. Since 1985, the biennial showhouse in tony Lake Forest, Illinois, has benefitted the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, an organization that has provided healthcare to Chicago's medically underserved communities for over 100 years.
This year's house is an idyllic Colonial-style estate originally designed by the architects Frost & Granger in 1906 for Chicago's Pullman family and later remodeled in 1926 by the architect Stanley Anderson. Brimming with 23 beautifully proportioned, light-filled rooms and incredible architectural details to boot, the historic property serves as an ideal canvas for over 30 interior and landscape designers representing some of the country's new and most visionary design talent. With a dynamic assortment of antique and vintage finds and ingenious uses of color, texture, and pattern throughout, each space is high on style, and design inspiration can be found around every corner.
From an elegant dining room clad in a breathtaking chinoiserie to a well-appointed potting room loaded with charm, discover 12 unforgettable rooms from this showstopping house here—and, if you're local, be sure to schedule a visit to see more (mask required!).
This year's designer show house, which opened July 11, takes place in a historic Midwest estate with design inspiration at every turn.
