Shaving my legs has always been a dreaded necessity. I like the look and feel of skin so much more without stubble, but my skin is so sensitive that I've never liked the look or feel of my legs post-shave. It seemed no matter what I did or used — super moisturizing shave cream, multi-blade razors with built-in hydrating strips, hair removal creams, post-shave lotions, and exfoliating balms all included — I ended up with chicken skin: angry red bumps and ingrown hairs.

In my work, I'm lucky enough to test out all kinds of beauty products, so I jumped at the chance to use the Dylonic Exfoliating Brush, a $12 rubber bristle brush with nearly 5,800 five-star ratings from people with skin like mine. Since I've tried everything else, I had low (read: zero) expectations for Dylonic's blue brush. However, after using it for only two weeks, I'm happy to report I was totally wrong.

Since I'm a rule follower, as soon as the package arrived, I took the exfoliating brush out of its box and immediately read the directions. Dylonic says to rub the brush lightly on wet or dry skin in a circular motion and upward, against the grain of your hairs' natural growth. The directions say to do it once in the morning and again at night for the best results.

"Apply slight pressure (almost none)," the directions read. Dylonic explains that razor bumps happen when hairs are curled backwards during shaving — the hairs get pushed into the skin and ultimately trapped, creating ingrowns. Both of these unfortunate and unsightly outcomes can be avoided by way of exfoliation, particularly with a handy brush like this.

After two weeks of diligently exfoliating the skin on my legs, I've seen such a dramatic reduction in those annoying red bumps and areas of ingrown hairs. I feel more confident wearing shorts and bathing suits than ever before, and since it worked so well, I started using it under my arms and along my bikini line.

While you can dry exfoliate with this brush, my skin didn't love it. I was much less red and irritated when I used the brush in the shower, or after wetting my legs first. I also used a moisturizing body wash and lotioned up my legs after each use. Neither of those steps were new for me, but I know my skin appreciated the extra attention.

I'm so thrilled with these results that my only regret over the Dylonic Exfoliating Brush is that I didn't know about it sooner. If you've suffered with skin you don't want to show off during the summer, order the brush today — especially for only $12.
