20 Comortable Sectional Sofas You Can Really Stretch Out On

We hate a stuffy couch... Sorry, that's not totally true. We love a art historically significant sofa that sells at auction for tens or hundreds of thousands. A chesterfield sofa in a smoking or drinking room isn't a stupid masculine cliché, it's good design. A rigid, Old-World style canapé—upon which you should only sit, never lounge—is very cool as well.
But these days, comfort is as much of the sofa equation as looks and construction. A sofa is where people are entertained in 2024. The sofa is where they watch film and TV, where they read and listen to music, and there's no reason to buy a serious sound system if your sofa is too uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. People want deep sofas they can cozy up in—big, plush luxury sofas. So, we must give the people what they want: The best sectional sofas.
Everything on this list is crazy comfy, we'll say that to start. There's a million different upholstery options, from classic leather to linen to velvet, which is having quite the moment right now. But, these are not little loveseats. These are big, sectional sofas that can serve as sleeper sofas. So get ready reader. It's time to throw out that futon, burn it in the backyard for all we care, and order some new swatches. Once you buy one of these most comfortable sectional, you're never going back.
Block Nomad Leather Sectional
Need a sectional? One that's inoffensive? One that fits with any, literally any, decor? Burrow has you covered. The Nomad has a modern shape. It comes in a few really nice leather upholsteries, and you can choose between a few options for the legs.
It's livable with firm cushions that'll last a while. Toss in some bolster pillows or an ottoman for a little extra comfort, and you're all set. This is why Burrow has taken over the D2C couch game.
Hamilton Round Chaise Sectional Sofa
You can't click into a furniture website without seeing a sectional with that rectangular chaise. We just showed you one. Spoiler, there's a lot more on the way.
This round chaise from Castlery feels truly unique. Plus, it's not without its practical benefits. The chaise fits multiple people, and the round shape accommodates every imaginable lounge style. If you're worried about the unusual shape, it's toned down with a simple sofa half and neutral upholstery. It'll work in your space, trust us.
Roma Curved 3-Piece Sectional
A few of the options on this list are included for their fun or interesting shapes, but this corner sectional from CB2 might take the cake. We love coked-out, rounded '70s and '80s interior design, and this half-circle shaped piece takes it to the extreme. It's a really fun piece of furniture with some equally fun fabric options.
But, the shape is also the only real problem you might face. Because it's round, it doesn't fit neatly into a corner. This isn't a sectional that will maximize a small space. It's made to be a centerpiece.
Helm Sofa
We've loved The Citizenry for a while now. The brand partners with artisans across the world and gives them a platform to sell their specialties. Think hinoki wood furniture from a workshop in Japan, rugs from weavers in Morocco, and leather from a family in Portugal.
The brand's new sofa is made in California with resilient and plush foam, a beautiful walnut base, and a handful of luxe upholstery options. Every couch is made to order and is high quality enough for you to pass down some day.
Oh, and to make it a sectional, buy a matching ottoman or two in the same upholstery as the sofa.
Kova Pit
A pit sofa is one of our favorite types of sectional. It's full luxury, perfect for bingeing TV, curling up with a book, or just sleeping all day.
Albany Park's Kova is our favorite pit sofa, far and away. The cushions are plush, and the moveable pillows let you set it up how you like, depending on the day.
Sactional with StealthTech
Tech?... But it's a couch. Well, it's a couch with built in speakers, and it won an Esquire Gadget Award this year. Fully immerse yourself in whatever TV or film you're watching with subwoofer satellite systems planted under your ass. Every background footstep echoes, every musical drop is emphasized by the bass, and it's all happening right where you're watching from. (Bonus: Lovesac has a ton of customization options.)
Mario Bellini Sofa
One of Italy's most iconic postwar designs, the Bellini sofa is a gallery piece that you can display in your home for the low, low price of... $6,000.
Wait, wait, wait! Before you go, it really is a better value than you think. It seems cerebral, but the design is more lowkey in person. It'll work with any decor, and the materials are so high quality it'll last you decades. Plus, it's actually comfortable.
Two-Piece Form Sectional
If you love that Scandinavian look but want something considerably more durable than IKEA furniture, Floyd has a lot of pieces that fit the mold. This sectional is the perfect example. Clean lines that won't stand out in any living room, and a real intention put into the design.
Sleeper Sectional with Storage
Stuck in a small city apartment? Constantly have friends crashing at your place? We've got the sectional for you. This sleeper is apartment sized, has storage in the chaise, and pulls out to a full sized bed.
Other than that... It's pretty barebones. Doesn't look incredible, but by no means is it ugly. Reviewer's say the fabric is easy to clean, even though there aren't a ton of options in the way of color.
Mid-Century Sectional
Sofas cost a lot—most everything on this list is worth about a month's worth of pay for me, so trust me, I know value. And as far as value for looks, feel, and design goes, this mid-century sectional on Amazon is as good as it gets.
It mimics more expensive sofas in looks and has some surprisingly nice upholstery options. You don't need much else, honestly.
Quilton Corner Sectional
While Floyd does the Scandinavian look well, Danish brand HAY is one of the main exporters of that look and design ethos to here in America. This couch, with its fun soft and rounded shape, is an excellent corner sectional.
What really gives this one the Best Looking title is the upholstery options. We love elevated shape and design, but it's also about customization, there's some great upholstery options you can choose from. There's no way one of the swatches won't look great in your home.
Movie Night Sectional
It's in the title. This sectional is perfect for cozying up, turning on the TV and just chilling out. Big plus cushions and pillows to match, you'll never want to get up. Plus, Sundays uses its proprietary LiveLife fabric, which is some of the best stain-resistant fabric out there.
The Muir Sectional
The wooden structure on this Maiden sectional is really stunning. It wraps all the way around the couch, and even extends with a built in side table. It's a perfect blend of form and function, and in the more natural wood finishes, it gives your space a nice, natural feel.
The only drawbacks are going to be size (it's big!) and, less likely, all that wood. If you've got hardwood floors, or a space that's already pretty natural, you just want to make sure everything can live harmoniously, because this couch is going to be your centerpiece.
The Essential Corner Sectional
This isn't the cheapest piece on this list, but it's under $3,000 for a big, five-seat sectional. That alone is a pretty good value. Add to it two high-quality sustainable fabrics—of which we like the velvet—and you've got the perfect investment. The design is simple, modern, and never going to go out of style. Can't beat it!
Double Wide Chaise Sectional
We really love a double wide sectional. The chaise portion essentially functions like a bed in your living room. Great for lounging, especially when there's more than one person that wants to stretch out.
We really like the wooden base of this sectional. The full length really pops well against the upholstery. Speaking of, West Elm gives you well over 100 swatches to choose from. If you really want to try something new—a pop of color or a new fabric—this is a great piece to do that with.
Tesse 2-Piece Sectional
How is "Best on a Budget" different from "Best Bang for Your Buck?" You ask. Here's how: This one is cheap. Barely over the $1,000 threshold, this is a great pick for someone that just landed that first big job and wants to dump their college futon.
Velvet Sectional Sofa
But if you really need value, you gotta go to where value lives. While Amazon is pretty desolate in terms of furniture, this velvet sectional is not a bad shout. Design-y enough, and with three decent color options. For under $1,000 there's not much you can complain about.
Rowland Motion Sectional
Not satisfied with an ottoman? You really, really want a reclining sectional? It's going to cost, but this sectional is everything you could want and more.
Arhaus makes this beautiful leather sectional with four recliners built in. The seats allow you to sink back, and the big cushions keep you supported. It's the height of luxury, and for that reason it's going to run you a lot.
Telluride Outdoor Sectional
If you're looking for something for your outdoor space, West Elm's Telluride sectional is one of our favorite outdoor sofas. It looks miles and feels better than most outdoor furniture, but the mahogany and eucalyptus wood frame has great moisture resistance.
How We Choose the Most Comfortable Sectionals
Don't just trust our picks. Take a look out our grading criteria.
Comfort - This is where we're different from other places. We're not just going based off Amazon reviews. We hit the showrooms and try this stuff out. To make our list of most comfortable sectionals it has to be, well, comfortable.
Materials - This is half part of comfort. The upholstery needs to feel nice, and it has to wear well. Plus, the frame has to be designed to last.
Price - We'll never recommend cheap stuff for the sake of it being cheap, but we'll always hunt for a good deal. We like to find that balance.
