If you grew up in the '90s or early '00s, you're likely familiar with Alicia Silverstone movies and her effervescent presence. The star will always be known for her role in the beloved 1995 teen movie Clueless — the sunny sass with which she said “Ugh, as if!” is nothing short of legendary. While Clueless gave Silverstone her star-is-born moment, she actually got her start a few years before the high school comedy came out.

Prior to Clueless, Silverstone famously starred in three music videos for the rock band Aerosmith. Silverstone played the dream girl in Aerosmith's "Cryin'" and "Amazing" (both 1993) and "Crazy" (1994).

Her striking looks and fresh energy helped bring the classic rock band into the MTV era, and after her first appearance in "Cryin,'" Aerosmith had a huge increase in record sales. "Aerosmith made a hell of a lot of money off that video," Silverstone explained in a 1995 interview with Rolling Stone. "Their sales tripled or something. They would have been crazy not to ask me back."

The Aerosmith videos also helped Silverstone score her breakout role in Clueless. As the film's director, Amy Heckerling, explained to Rolling Stone, "I was minding my own business on my treadmill watching MTV when I saw 'Cryin’' and just went cuckoo bananas."

We're also pretty cuckoo bananas for the smiley blonde star. Here's a guide to our favorite Alicia Silverstone movies, from '90s teen classics to under-the-radar '00s indies.

12. Batman & Robin (1997)

Silverstone played Batgirl in this campy '90s Batman movie. While Batman & Robin isn't one of the most critically acclaimed Batman films by any means, it has something of a cult following for its over-the-top aesthetic and hammy performances.

In 2020, Silverstone told The Guardian that Batman & Robin "definitely wasn’t my favorite film-making experience."

11. Vamps (2012)

After the '90s, Silverstone took on a string of supporting roles and roles in smaller-scale films. She also became a passionate activist for animal rights, and remains well-known for her veganism. In 2012, Silverstone returned to her roots by partnering once again with Clueless director Amy Heckerling in the vampire comedy Vamps.

Silverstone plays Goody, a vampire living with her fellow vamp BFF, Stacy (Krysten Ritter), in New York City. Soon Stacy falls in love with her classmate, but complications ensue as she finds out that his father is a vampire slayer, leading the two vamps to wonder whether they should slay the vampire that turned them for a chance at real love or stay as they are.

10. Alicia Silverstone movies: The Babysitter (1995)

The early Alicia Silverstone movies The Crush and The Babysitter are both provocative, erotic thrillers. Here, Silverstone plays Jennifer, a beautiful young babysitter who attracts attention from every male she encounters, from teen boys to the dad of the kid she's babysitting.

While the film received mostly negative reviews, The New York Times praised Silverstone's performance, saying, "With impressive ease, she slips from propriety to provocation and back again."

9. Angels in Stardust (2014)

In this film, Silverstone plays Tammy, the neglectful mother of a struggling 16-year-old girl in a small town.

After becoming known for playing the teen ingenue, Angels in Stardust marked a departure for Silverstone. As she said in an interview with Collider, “Tammy is just this complex character that’s so different than anything I had ever done. I feel like it was a completely different role, and I was really, really excited about that.”

8. Excess Baggage (1997)

In Excess Baggage, Silverstone plays Emily, a high-maintenance teen who makes many attempts to be noticed by her father. When Emily decides to fake her own kidnapping to get his attention, she accidentally gets kidnapped for real, as a car thief, Vincent (Benicio Del Toro), drives off with Emily in the trunk, unaware she is in there.

In a post-apocalyptic world, Troy (Stephen Moyer) and his son Jake (Drew Van Acker) are living in their own perfect utopia. Though they are thousands of miles from any towns, Jake must travel to the outside world for medicine. While his father orders Jake to kill anyone he sees, Jake defies him when he meets Henrietta (Silverstone), a mysterious woman who poses a potential threat to the insular world he's grown up in.

4. Blast from the Past (1999) Alicia Silverstone Movies

In this sci-fi/rom-com hybrid, Adam (Brendan Fraser), a man who has spent his whole life in a nuclear bomb shelter, ventures out into the real world and meets Eve (Silverstone). Eve decides to help Adam out and teach him about the world he has missed out on for his entire life. While showing Adam how to live his new life, Eve finds herself falling in love with him.

In 2023, Silverstone revealed she'd be down for a Blast From the Past sequel, saying, "I would do anything with Brendan. It was so much fun."

3. Reptile (2023)

Silverstone's most recent movie teams her back up with her Excess Baggage costar Benicio Del Toro. In this dark mystery, Del Toro plays a detective investigating a grizzly murder case and Silverstone plays his wife.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Silverstone said, "I’m really happy with my life. Just seeing Benicio Del Toro again on the set of Reptile. We haven’t worked together for 27 years. I thought: ‘it’s been an incredible journey’.”

As Nick turns down Adrian's advances, the teen becomes increasingly unhinged.

1. Clueless (1995)

As the rich, popular ‘It Girl’, Cher Horowitz, Silverstone made Clueless one of the most memorable films of the '90s.
