Ever since moving in with my girlfriend, I’ve had to deal with a newfound bathroom annoyance: hair in the drain. It seemed like every week I was snaking and Drano-ing the shower, but it felt like as soon as I finished, I’d be ankle-deep in slow-draining water just a few days later. Unfortunately, I recently grew my hair out, so I can no longer place the blame squarely on Brooke. So, with nobody to point a finger at and double the hair now heading toward the drain, we knew we had to do something. We’d tried those plastic drain savers before, but they were never really a great fit, and kind of a pain to clean. Plus, the ones we’ve tried discolored and looked gross after a while. So, when I saw that TubShroom made a stainless-steel version of their drain-protection system, we were excited to give it a try.

What Is the TubShroom Drain Protector

The TubShroom Ultra features a stainless steel construction and is built to last. It protects your drain and pipes from getting clogged with hair and debris, which can save you tons of money on snakes, drain cleaners, and even plumbing work down the road. Plus, it also comes with two adapters for smaller and larger drains. While most plugs go over the drain, the TubShroom goes inside the drain — this helps it effortlessly catch any type of hair without disrupting the flow of water, so you won’t have to worry about clogging your tub.

Why I Love the TubShroom Drain Protector

Of course, I love this TubShroom Drain Protector since it saves me from having to snake the drain all the time — which is not only gross but a huge hassle — and it still allows water to drain despite catching hair, so the tub doesn’t fill up while you’re using it. And, besides being super effective at keeping our drain free of hair, it’s also super easy to clean and hasn’t had any discoloration (and I doubt it will since it’s stainless steel). Aesthetically, it looks way better than the plastic TubShroom (IMO) and matches our bathroom aesthetic. Plus, you can hardly tell anything is actually in the drain, because it blends in with the stainless steel shower fixtures, and you don’t even see all the hair that it traps — unlike the plastic one, which can look a little gnarly after a while.

I’m not the only one who finds it to be a godsend, either. “I can’t praise this bathtub drain protector and hair catcher enough,” one reviewer writes. “It’s transformed my bathroom maintenance … The design is ingeniously simple yet incredibly effective. Hair and debris are effortlessly trapped, preventing clogs and drainage issues.” So, if you’re sick of having to snake your drain every few months, weeks, or days (in my case) do yourself a favor and pick up this stainless-steel TubShroom right away, especially while it’s still on sale!
