On TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms, there seems to be a trend of mothers who are a tad too obsessed with their sons' gender. People obviously don't love the patriarchal messaging in this (i.e., "boys are superior to girls"), or the way it perpetuates the gender binary, but that's just the tip of the iceberg with this issue.
I personally am most disturbed by how CREEPY some of these mothers are. Whether it's obsessing over their kid's penis size or future-tripping about what kind of woman he's gonna marry someday, there's something very sexualized about the "boy mom" behavior. Urban Dictionary even defines it as "a mom who is emotionally incestuous with her sons."
