What sets these hit series apart is their absolute singularity; There has never been a show just like Yellowjackets, and there may never be again. With Yellowjackets, Showtime has created a juggernaut. Years and decades from now, critics and pop culture historians will point to Yellowjackets as a marker of our current entertainment ecosystem.
Yellowjackets is a show that combines horror and suspense with emotional drama with teen angst and ‘90s nostalgia. The character development, the aesthetic choices, and hell, even the intro credits, are completely unmatched. This series is singular, to say the least. Like Yellowjackets, the plot unfolds through a time-jumping structure, flashing back and forth through the early days of the pandemic all the way into the aftermath.
Severance
Which one of these is not like the other? Severance features no notions of apocalypse, survivalism, cannibalism, or teen angst. Still, if you’re a Yellowjacket, we think you’ll enjoy this thriller from Apple TV+. Starring Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette, Severance exists in a futuristic world where office workers elect to sever their brains when they're on the clock, leaving them with no memories of their work environment after 6 p.m. They don’t know what they do all day or what their company is responsible for, which (naturally) leaves room for devious corruption.
The End of the F***ing World
This Netflix series ran from 2017 to 2019 and follows two teenagers on a cross country road trip—one an angst teenage girl (a Yellowjacket in another life), the other a self-assigned psychopath looking to move from animal victims to human ones.
Santa Clarita Diet
This comedy-horror series stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as married realtors in the idyllic Santa Clarita, California. The twist? She’s a cannibalistic zombie.
Twin Peaks

Category is: creepy, twisted teenage girls. Adapted from the popular Gillian Flynn novel, Sharp Objects stars Amy Adams as a reporter returning to her small southern town to investigate the unsolved murder of a teenage girl. One of HBO’s best miniseries, Sharp Objects is a must-stream.
The Leftovers
Starring Carrie Coon and Justin Theroux, The Leftovers picks up three years after a global cataclysm in which 140 million people disappeared from the planet. Those who remain are bitterly divided, torn apart by grief, confusion, and fear. The series offers an interesting take on survivalism, one that is less focused on teamwork and collectivism, and quite possibly, more realistic.
