11 Pro Hairstylists and Salons Offering Online Hair Tutorials Right Now

Stay-at-home orders may have us relaxing our daily routines, embracing our best lounge life, and generally being a little looser with our hair. But as we get further into this "new normal," we’re definitely craving that salon touch. As grays I never knew I had take root, and my hard-fought ash tones start to lose their luster, thankfully, like many other salons across the country, my neighborhood Chicago favorite The Meraki Room is offering hair tips, tutorials, and product recommendations on Instagram. And, with plenty of brands and hairstylists all jumping in on the action, there’s never been a better time to brush up on your styling skills.

Whether you need some help laying your wig, guidance with an all-out color transformation, or pointers on how to freshen up your braids, Here are 11 of our favorite salons and hairstylists that are offering free content on social media to help you through it all. (Oh, and don't forget to show your local spot love by buying a gift card for that post-social distancing transformation or reaching out to find out how you can best support your favorite stylist.)

Missio Hair

Looking for hairstyle inspiration? Tips on how to create long-lasting beachy waves? Maybe a guide on how to oil-train your hair? Missio is here to help. The brand shares weekly tutorials on its Instagram, and more in-depth videos on its YouTube channel. Each one breaks down everything you need to know into super easy steps, with legit, professional-looking results. We especially love founder Lorin Van Zandt’s miniseries on styling kids’ hair — we’re totally stealing the seashell bun to try on ourselves, though.

Bleach London

If it’s fun, fearless color you’re after, then you'll want to check out Bleach London's tutorials to give a vibrant new mood to your stay-at-home hair. These dye jobs aren't for the faint-hearted, but if you're into greens, pinks, purples, and other unicorn hues, this is your spot for all the details on how to finesse these colors at home. Bleach also provides tutorials on its blog, while on IG there’s a mash-up of cool color stories and posts. Plus, the team regularly hosts virtual "Hair Parties" on Instagram — a recent one featured Maisie Williams and Pixie Geldof dyeing their hair live.

Kahh Spence

Looking to upgrade your skills with wigs and extensions? Kahh Spence has got you. The genius behind Cardi B, Normani, Ella Mai, and Doja Cat’s crowns shares his expertise in fun tutorials for all to enjoy. Braids, curls, and mussed-up waves are hairstylist Kayley Melissa’s jam, and with her weekly hair tutorials, she offers up fresh techniques to try. If there's a topic you don't see covered, no worries — owner Luke Hersheson and his fellow experts do a weekly series called "In Conversation With," where you can ask them all your burning hair questions.
