11 cozy outfits to wear if you're staying home on New Year’s Eve

We have mixed feelings about New Year’s Eve. On one hand, getting all dressed up in sequins, splashing sparkles across our eyelids, and hitting the town with friends is a blast. However, getting caught in traffic, overpaying for food and drinks, and letting our bare legs freeze outside is not such a blast. So, staying home when the ball drops on New Year’s Eve sounds more and more appealing every year.

New Year’s Eve house parties (even if the guest list is only you and your pet!) are less expensive, less effort, and lower-stakes, which usually means more fun. Sign us up.

This year, we’ll be toasting champagne flutes to our TVs as the ball drops, and be tucked into bed by 12:05 a.m. In order to have this gloriously low-key New Year’s Eve, we need the coziest outfits possible to wear while eating chocolate and reminiscing on the past year. To help you sleep like a baby after the clock strikes midnight, we rounded up the coziest outfits to spend all night in (and possibly all of New Year’s Day, too—no judgment.) Check out our top picks below.

Our senior beauty and fashion editor is obsessed with these joggers. “These cashmere pants have completely replaced every other comfy pair of loungewear pants I own,” she says. “They’re incredibly soft, have a loose fit, and keep me warm without overheating me. Plus, they make me feel like a rich woman who may or may not have champagne on tap, which is a mood I’m always here for.” Could there be a more perfect New Year’s Eve mood?
