One thing is for certain: We stand with Frances McDormand.

When the Best Actress winner asked all her fellow female nominees to rise up with her at the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday night, the actress was also sending a loud message to the industry.

"Look around, ladies and gentlemen, because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed," said the lead actress of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

She then concluded her speech by saying: "I have two words to leave you with tonight, ladies and gentleman: inclusion rider."

McDormand was referring to a clause that an actor can add to his or her contract that dictates women and people of color will fill a certain percentage of the roles on a film project. First introduced by Stacy Smith, the founder and director of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at the University of Southern California, #InclusionRider became an instant social media trend and is now considered a new way of doing business that can—and should!—extend well beyond the industry.
