These 10 U.S. States Are The Most Likely to Buy Shoes on Black Friday

Kuru contacted 1,000 American shoppers in September to determine the most anticipated purchases, budgets and more for the U.S. during Black Friday — which takes place on Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving. Within the released data, shoes were the second most-anticipated shopping category (the top spot went to Christmas gifts).
Shoes were also the most-anticipated purchase for ten specific U.S. states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont and Wyoming.
The data also revealed a closer look at Americans’ Black Friday spending habits. According to the survey, 55% of Americans plan for Black Friday shopping by researching deals and discounts in advance, while 47% set budgets and 46% create specific shopping lists.
Where budgets are concerned, 33% of Americans plan to spend $500 to $1,000 on Black Friday in 2023, while 16% intend to spend between $200 to $300 for the occasion; meanwhile, 1 in 10 individuals won’t shop on Black Friday at all.
The majority of shoppers — 38%, to be exact — also start shopping on the morning of Black Friday itself, while 25% begin shopping once Black Friday deals are shown online — which can begin up to a week or more before the actual day. However, 1 in 5 consumers surveyed begin their Black Friday shopping on Thanksgiving, a popular shopping strategy in recent years.
