New York City has arguably the most famous skyline in the world. So why, then, would you ever want to miss a moment of gazing at it? Rather than visiting the same old hole in the wall joints, this summer, we encourage you to go a few floors higher — in some cases to the 64th floor — to both get a great drink and an even better view to match. Here are 10 of the best rooftop bars around New York City to try visit now.

Located in the Freehand Hotel at 3 Lexington Ave, Broken Shaker offers guests the chance to imbibe in handcrafted cocktails and small bites, while overlooking the city below. The bartenders here are specialists in infusions, often pairing freshly pressed juices with vibrant herbs, to make drinks like the New Fashioned, made with Bulleit Rye, yuzu lemongrass syrup, and Angostura bitters.

Nubeluz by José Andrés puts you in the clouds, just as the name, which combines the Spanish words for "cloud" and light," describes. The modern cocktail spot, located at 25 West 28th Street, offers both classics and signature drinks with a twist, including the not-to-miss Salt Air Margarita, made with Milagro blanco tequila, Combier orange, Iime, and salt air.

Enjoy it on the bar's wrap-around balcony, which provides 360-degree views.

Make your way to the 26th floor at 3 Mitchell Place to experience the view at Ophelia Lounge. The bar located at the top of the Beekman Tower offers fantastic 360-degree views of Manhattan all in a greenhouse terrace, making it a prime place to step outside in the summer and look out the floor-to-ceiling windows all winter long. Though it has an extensive list of beers and wines, don't miss its craft cocktails, including the Resurrection, made with Grey Goose, Campari, lime, passion fruit, and hibiscus for a fruity kick.

Feeling like you need even more greenery? Make your way to Gallow Green, a bar that sits on top of the McKittrick Hotel at 542 W 27th Street. The secret garden oasis will totally transport you to another place and time but don't worry, you can always anchor yourself back in the reality of New York just by looking over the edge to see the skyline. The bar offers a rotating seasonal menu, but you can count on drinks like the Northern Lights, made with tequila, pomegranate, lime, and soda.

Mix in a little of New York with a little bit of France with a stop at Bar Blondeau. The French-style bar by Aidan O’Neal and Jake Leiber, located on the 6th floor of the Wythe Hotel at 80 Wythe Ave in Brooklyn, provides gorgeous and totally unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline and surrounding Brooklyn. The food menu here has plenty of European influences (the bar touts French, Spanish, and Portuguese among them), as well as a hearty list of cocktails, beers, frozen drinks, zero-proof cocktails, and signature drinks. But don't overlook its selection of wines, including the Il Censo ‘Gurte’ orange wine.

The spacious patio is often described as one of the least pretentious spots in town, where everyone is welcome to come to enjoy the views of both Manhattan and Brooklyn. And though it too has a long list of cocktails and wines, it just feels like the prime place to enjoy an ice-cold beer. Try the Finback IPA this summer, as its citrus-forward flavors pack all the right punch.
