There's still time to plan a ski trip with your besties this year.

Girls trips are always a good idea — but throw in some fresh powder, and it’s a real trip to remember. There are plenty of great mountain resorts around the world, but there are a few that rise above the rest and make for stellar girls getaway locations. Here are 10 of the best destinations to explore with your fellow shredders this winter, either on your own or with an empowering female-focused program.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole is often considered one of the toughest mountains in America to ski and ride, thanks to its steep terrain and deep powder. But it’s nothing you and your crew can’t handle, especially if you take part in the mountain’s Lady Shred camps. The four-day retreats push women to their limits and teach them how to take on the backcountry, the toughest terrain, or overcome any fears they may have about the mountain.

Sun Valley, Idaho

Sun Valley is another spectacular ski resort in the West that is sure to be a hit with your ski buddies. The mountain offers terrain for everyone, including its steepest trail, Inhibition. But don’t worry; 36 percent of the mountain’s trails are greens, so even the newbies in your group can have a blast. In Sun Valley, book time with Women’s Ski Adventures, which creates bespoke itineraries for female outings, including everything from backcountry to heli-skiing.

Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge is a destination that defines small-town charm. Its Main Street is filled with adorable shops, cute cafes, and plenty of spaces for an excellent après experience with your girls. But don’t get it twisted, this is still a big mountain that comes with plenty of powder. Take advantage of its women’s programs, including a women’s ski and snowboard camp, and the Breck Belles, a female-focused, half-day ski lesson that will help you level up in no time.

Killington, Vermont

If Breckenridge isn't small enough for you, try Killington, a community in Vermont with fewer than 1,000 residents. The town, located in the Green Mountains, may not have a lot of people, but it makes up for it with gorgeous landscapes and a fantastic mountain fit for all levels. If you’re heading to Killington with your girl group, try booking a stay during one of its women’s camps, including the 2023 camps with Olympic gold medalist and world champion mogul skier, Donna Weinbrecht.

Verbier, Switzerland

If you and your crew are just itching to go skiing in Europe, then do it right by booking flights to Switzerland and making your way to Verbier. It’s a massive mountain, with 80 percent of the runs available to beginners and intermediates, and the rest for experts. It’s also a place where après takes on a life of its own and the raclette is always warm. Come here to ski on your own, or take part in local two-day women’s ski clinics that also include yoga lessons so you can stretch out after carving a few thousand vertical feet.

Mammoth Mountain, California

Mammoth Mountain may be a little harder to get to than most mountains in the U.S., but the juice is worth the squeeze (or rather, the longer drive) on this one. The mountain comes with more than 3,500 skiable acres, and averages some 400 inches of snow a year, meaning you can bet on great conditions for your trip. Make the most of your time at Mammoth by perfecting your skiing and snowboarding skills at one of its in-depth clinics, including an all-women clinic for those who want to surround themselves with like-minded shredders.

Taos, New Mexico

Taos is the place to go for those who want to support a greener future in skiing. The mountain is the only certified B Corp mountain in the world, and it is making its way toward becoming completely carbon neutral. And this mountain doesn’t just dedicate a day or two to women’s clinics — it offers a whole week. A ski week, to be exact. Plan your trip around its annual Women’s Ski Week, filled with lessons and fun, for a girls getaway you’ll never forget.

Snowbird, Utah

Those hoping for spring skiing should look into Snowbird, home to Utah’s longest ski season. It’s well known for keeping its operation open until July 4. Though, if you can, try to visit earlier in the season and take advantage of its 500 inches of annual snowfall. In fact, try to visit mid-week too, as it offers Women’s Wednesdays, along with regular women’s ski camps all season long.

Keystone, Colorado

Those who want more space to roam around the mountain may want to suggest a trip to Keystone. Here, you’ll find not one, not two, but three peaks to explore, including Dercum Mountain, North Peak, and the Outback, combining to make up more than 2,500 acres of skiable terrain. There are also a ton of other winter activities to take part in here, like snow tubing, ice skating, and sleigh rides. The mountain offers both women’s lessons and Betty Fest, a two-day ski improvement workshop meant to help intermediates turn into experts.

Whistler, Canada

Reminder: Our neighbors to the north have excellent skiing and snowboarding too. Head to Whistler Blackcomb for proof. Here you’ll find an astonishing 8,171 acres of skiable terrain spread across 200 marked runs, 16 alpine bowls, and three glaciers. (And really, don’t you want your girl group text thread to be all about shredding glaciers together?) Check out its women’s camps, including a few put on by Helly Hanson, that run the gamut of beginner to expert.
