Getting Started

  • Find a quiet place to sit comfortably upright—at the edge of your bed, on the floor, or in a chair

  • Close your eyes and tune into the breath or another point of focus to be fully present

  • Relax your body—loosen your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and soften your brows

We'll be the first to admit it: meditation is no joke. And if you've ever meditated, you'll experience just a micro-sample of how many different channels our brains tune into each and every day. Wouldn't it be nice to tackle everything on our to-do list each day without getting sidetracked or distracted by the latest trailers vying for our minds' attention?

But what if, instead of getting frustrated by our distractions, we welcome them with patience? What if, instead of scrambling to get back to our default stations, we give those channels a chance to play out whatever shows they think will land a permanent home on our watchlist?

The same can be done with our distracting thoughts. In this meditation, we'll embrace our distractions and greet them with kindness and patience as they wander and disappear on their own.
