The number of Americans with Alzheimer’s disease is growing each year. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, in 2015 an estimated 5.3 million Americans of all ages had the disease. They also add that “almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer's are women. Of the 5.1 million people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's in the United States, 3.2 million are women and 1.9 million are men.”

Those suffering from this disease need a good support system. Make sure you care for this person and help him or her manage their day-to-day activities. This includes appointments, money, medications, and help with memory loss. The ALZ advises the care partner to encourage the person with Alzheimer’s to continue living as independently as possible, and nurture your relationship by living in and enjoying the moment.
