Looking for a dog-friendly vacation rental near NYC doesn’t have to be a needle-in-a-haystack type of search. Tons of dog-friendly spots are available within driving distance from the city, whether you want to escape to a Jersey Shore beach town, seclude yourself in a cabin in the Catskills or live in luxury in East Hampton. When searching properties, beyond making sure the listing explicitly says “pet-friendly,” look for spaces with yards (bonus points if the yards are fenced-in), high walkability scores and dog-friendly restaurants nearby. Many vacation rentals are near hiking trails and dog-friendly beaches, too. Pro tip: Always message the host to make sure you’re not breaking pet policies and be prepared to bring your own dog bed. Most dog-friendly rentals ask that pups stay off the furniture.
