10 Chadwick Boseman Movies You Can Watch Right Now
Right now so many of us are mourning the death of Chadwick Boseman, the actor who brought King T'Challa to life in Marvel's Black Panther.
On August 28, Boseman's team shared news of the 43-year-old's passing on Instagram. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” they wrote. “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”
“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther,” the post continued. “He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Although the impact of Black Panther and his other works already could not be overstated, knowing the actor worked through chemotherapy treatments and surgeries to provide us with his art makes it feel even more imperative to honor them. In that spirit, TBS announced on August 29 that it will air Black Panther twice over the weekend. Per Deadline, the Marvel action movie aired Saturday, August 29, at 9 p.m. E.T., and will play again on Sunday, August 30, at 8 p.m. E.T.
On Sunday, ABC announced they will air Black Panther commercial-free tonight (August 30) starting at 8 p.m. E.T., followed by a special tribute called Chadwick Boseman – A Tribute for a King, which will air at 10:20 p.m. E.T.
The special will "celebrate Boseman’s storied life, legacy and career, and the cultural imprint he made on- and off-screen," according to a press release, per People. “It will feature tributes that have poured in from celebrities, political figures and fans across the world, special words from those who starred alongside him and knew Boseman best, and shine a light on the medical condition he privately battled.”
