With beige walls, dark accents, and a glass case on the counter displaying the day’s catch, the dining room at Shiro's Sushi, a Belltown classic, is pretty standard. The food, however, is anything but.
What was the crowd like?
Lined up outside and stuffed into the dining room, the word "crowd" is right for the fish-focused people at Shiro’s.
What's on the drink menu?
The sake list includes a few lovely junmai gingos from the snowy Niigata region of Japan, which happens to be home to some of the best sake in the world. For those who can’t resist the killer combo of sushi and beer, there are the standard Japanese brews Kirin Ichiban, Asahi, and Sapporo.
Main event: the food. Give us the lowdown—especially what not to miss.
Legendary chef Shiro Kashiba now slices seafood at nearby Sushi Kashiba in Pike Place Market, but the food here remains flawless in the capable hands of chef Jun Kobayashi. From the tender broiled hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar) to lovingly wrought rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, Shiro’s remains one of Seattle’s top sushi spots.
