Unlike the rest of One Direction, Liam decided to do a bit of dancing in his first solo endeavor. Trust me, nobody is complaining!
"Crying in the Club" by Camila Cabello (May, 19th)
The former Fifth Harmony member's first proper solo single was highly anticipated among fans and it definitely delivered. The mid-tempo track had a couple things going for it, like being co-written by Sia and sampling Christina Aguilera's '90s hit "Genie in a Bottle." Is it really any surprise that fans loved it instantly?
"Dead" by Madison Beer (May 18th)
Madison recounts an unhealthy relationship where her SO tries to make her stick around by saying they'll "die" without her. This breakup anthem is speculated to be about Madison's ex-boyfriend Jack Gilinsky.
"Slow Hands" by Niall Horan (May 4th)
Niall did a total 180 with his second solo single. While his first track, "This Town," was a folksy romantic slow jam, "Slow Hands" is a bluesy track about attraction with a funky, thumping bass. LOVE IT.

With features from industry heavyweights like Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Quavo, it's no surprise this track shot straight up to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it dropped.
"Attention" by Charlie Puth (April 20th)
Fans couldn't help thinking that this funky track about a girl who keeps stringing a guy along just for the attention was a dig at Charlie's former fling, Bella Thorne. Just remember there are three sides to this story - Charlie's, Bella's, and the truth.
"Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee, ft. Justin Bieber (April 16)
What happens when you take a bonafide Latin hit and give it a Spanglish remix with the Biebs as a guest star? You get the first top ten mostly-spanish song on the Billboard Hot 100 since the Macarena in 1996!
"Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles (April 7th)
Everyone had a feeling Harry Styles' debut single as a solo artist was going to be life-changing and it didn't disappoint. The former 1D member's 70's-inspired anthem is a dying mother's message to her newborn child and it's the ballad we all needed for our 2017.
"Hey Ma" by Pitbull & J Balvin, ft. Camila Cabello (March 10th)
What's so amazing about "Hey Ma" is that it's got two versions: A Spanish version and an English version with a music video for each. So much solo Camila! Who's complaining? Nobody.
"No Frauds" by Nicki Minaj, ft. Drake (March 10th)
This scathing rap may be Nicki's response to fellow rapper Remy Ma's diss track "ShETHER," but it swiftly turned into every person who's got no time for fake friends anthem.
"It Ain't Me" by Kygo ft. Selena Gomez (February 16th)
Selena made her return as queen of pop bops at the top of 2017 with this catchy collab. The track is about a loving relationship destroyed by alcoholism, but despite its heavy topic, it has an uplifting message in the end. Which is why everyone loves jamming out to it!
"Chained to the Rhythm" by Katy Perry (February 10th)
Katy Perry was inspired to create more "purposeful pop" after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, and this track definitely fits the bill. And while the song might sound like your typical dance hall hit, the lyrics talk about complacency and the power of resistance.

"Paris" by The Chainsmokers (January 13th)
A college student recently proved that every Chainsmokers song is essentially the same, which explains why you're essentially guaranteed to love every one of their singles. *Plays "Paris" on repeat*

Sure, the single was steeped in controversy for sounding uncomfortably similar to TLC's 1999 hit "No Scrubs," but Ed ended up giving credit where credit is due so you can enjoy this earworm track guilt-free!
