According to fashion and lifestyle expert Adylia-Rhenee Gutierrez , this is a tad difficult since not many brands offer tall sizes. “When you’re tall, like myself, [finding] jeans, or more specifically trendy jeans, can be a tedious process,” Gutierrez tells PEOPLE. To remedy this, Gutierrez recommends looking at the whole picture and how features such as fabric, inseam, rise, and length come together to fit your body.

Our testers confirmed these have an extremely comfortable fit, sitting just below the natural waist and featuring a little bit of stretch to up the ante. One tester, a self-described "Old Navy jeans enthusiast," pointed out that all the pockets are big enough to fit a smart phone (although she wishes the front two pockets were even a bit deeper).

Gap is one of the best places to shop for jeans, especially if you’re looking for more options size-wise. For a mid-rise straight jean with a girlfriend fit, these jeans were well-liked by our testers who praised them for their sturdiness and comfort. Available in tall, petite, and regular sizes, these comfortable, everyday denim jeans come in four classic washes and are constructed from a cotton blend with some stretch.
This type of fabric content is a great choice for those who prefer more structured denim but want a tiny bit of stretch for that added flexibility and comfort. Cropped denim might be a little trickier if you’re tall (it’s sometimes hard to know whether the regular-length denim will be long enough, or whether you should just consider hemming a tall-length pair of denim).

Things to Consider Before Buying Jeans
Inseam Is Important
“Tall women should pay attention to the inseam length when shopping for jeans,” stylist Samatha Brown says. “Some brands carry long lengths, which can be found online, so being prepared by doing this research ahead of time will make shopping easier. Many brands like Frame, Citizens, Levi’s, and Banana Republic offer longer lengths.”
Shopping in-store might be a little tricky, but if you do see a style you like while shopping, it’s great to know ahead of time that there might be a tall or long version with a longer inseam online.
Another aspect of denim to consider is where, exactly, the jeans should hit when wearing different types of shoes, as fashion writer Maggie Gillette explains. “If you're looking for a bootcut or trouser style jeans, you want them to touch the top of your foot and just break or crease slightly there,” Gillette explains. “This will ensure that they look long enough when you move or sit without the back of your pants dragging on the ground.”
Your Style Preference
Beyond that, it’s all about style. While classic boot-cut jeans, like the Levi’s 725 High-Rise Bootcut, are always a good choice, you can opt for ‘90s-inspired denim if you want to stay on trend. “We're seeing a return to '90s and early aughts style denim with a loser silhouette and a long line,” Gillette says. “These jeans pair perfectly with the season's boots and heels, and being able to find denim with a long enough inseam is a key to working these styles, especially for tall women.”
Stretch
Stretch is also worth considering — though it’s not essential. Denim with stretch can provide a more flexible fit, which is preferred in some more fitted styles like skinny jeans. The stretch can also soften the material and jeans feel a little more lived-in, too. If you prefer more structure to your jeans, opting for a style that doesn’t have stretch (100 percent cotton denim) is the way to go. Pure denim works well in baggy, wide-leg, boyfriend, or mom jean styles. They take some extra time to break in, but they can mold to your body for a more custom fit over time and are durable enough to last decades.

To find the best jeans for tall women, we first interviewed several experts on the subject to glean what qualities we should be looking for (as well as taking their personal tried-and-true recommendations). Later, we conducted a real-world test with bestselling denim brands, which included Levi's, Gap, and Good American.
We spent three weeks evaluating each pair, noting if the fit was true to size (including proper length), how comfortable they are, and how well they hold up in the wash. At the end of the testing period, we rated each on a 1-5 scale (with 5 being the best) against the following testing attributes: fit, quality, comfort, and durability.
