Sometimes all you need is one terrific dress to win at the style game. This spring it’s in color, occasionally a floral, and perhaps a smidgen eccentric. Consider the rainbow fringe (by Alice + Olivia) that Janelle Monáe wore to mark Cardi B’s album release. Or Naomie Harris’s bohemian turn on the red carpet in Schiaparelli Haute Couture. In London, Lily James bloomed in a micro-floral empire sheath (by Emilia Wickstead). And then there are the neo-Greciana: Gwyneth Paltrow (in custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture) and Ashley Graham (in Veronica Beard). Plus, a dress need not be new! Bella Hadid (in vintage Alaïa) proved that a 20-something supermodel can rival her ’90s predecessors and walk even more confidently in polished flats.
