The 10 Best ALDI Wines, from Roses to Reds

If you’re anything like one particular writer, selecting a wine comes down to just two things—the color and the price tag. Sound all too familiar? Then expect to be overwhelmed the next time you visit ALDI, the German supermarket known for great prices on, well, everything—including wine, at least in the 70 percent of the 2,200 U.S. stores that carry alcohol, according to Arlin Zajmi, director of national buying for wine and beer at ALDI U.S.

Rather than randomly plucking the cheapest red or white off the shelf—ahem—consider treating yourself to a well-priced bottle that’s pre-approved by the best in the wine biz with this roundup of the best ALDI wine.

The following selections have earned accolades from the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), which makes a science out of taste-testing and ranking wines: BTI uses tasting panels of up to five wine experts who are trained extensively to conduct American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM)-compliant blind tasting. Considering they sample as many as 6,000 wines a year, according to BTI executive director Jerald O'Kennard, it’s safe to say they know their stuff.

The bottles listed below have all earned gold (90 to 95-point) or silver (85 to 89-point) ratings, meaning you really can’t go wrong with any (or all!) of them.
