Try The Quickest Hangover Cure Ever

If you heard coffee doesn’t cure a hangover…you heard wrong!

As a holistic nutrition consultant, I’ve traveled around the world to work with some very special clients—one with a particularly marvelous personal chef. He gave me an incredible, completely natural hangover cure that worked almost immediately. One of the best I’ve ever experienced.

Full disclosure: I very rarely drink alcohol anymore. However, a night of great fun and celebration with my client turned into one of the worst hangovers of my life. For those who know me, it’s ironic. It’s even more ironic that it’s my job to keep my clients in check. No harm done celebrating life that way every once in a while (except perhaps a bit of temporary harm to my liver)!

I barely made it into the kitchen the following morning to ask the rest of the staff what I could do to fix myself. The chef took one look at me and proceeded to make The Magic Tonic. He and everyone else promised that it would get me well on the spot, and mind you, I was suffering from a near migraine-headache, nausea beyond belief, and general hangover symptoms that would have kept me in bed for well over 24 hours.

Once the elixir appeared in front of me, it was do or die. It contained a dose of coffee, which I stopped drinking 15 years ago, and I had no idea what effect it would have. But bottoms up! I gulped down the shot and went straight back to bed. Within 20 minutes I was practically back to normal.

Want to know the secret recipe? It’s so simple:
½ tbsp of organic finely ground coffee
2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice

That’s it! Mix this coffee bean and lemon juice elixir with a spoon until the texture is like a puree. Add a bit more lemon juice if it remains too thick. As an alternative, you can mix 8oz of strong organic coffee with 2-3 tbsp of the fresh lemon juice.

Lemon juice has a similar atomic structure to the body’s digestive juices, which is why it’s such a powerful liver cleanser. It filters out toxins and helps process nutrients. After a night of alcohol consumption, these effects give the liver an effective boost. And, coffee contains an enormous amount of antioxidants, which the body seems to absorb extremely well. This contributes to the characteristic “pick me up” feeling.

Please Note! I am not suggesting that coffee is a health-generating substance or that one should start including it in regular, daily consumption. However, for curing the occasional extreme hangover, it proved to be a lifesaver.

Take it Up a Notch: Mix 1 teaspoon of sea salt with 12-16 ounces of water and drink before having the magic coffee lemon elixir. This will further support the adrenal glands, creating more energy.

Among many other functions, the adrenal glands (sitting above each kidney) produce cortisol and other steroid hormones. Cortisol is the hormone released when there is perceived stress in the body. When alcohol inhibits the production of cortisol, the body’s energy stores will not be properly regulated, resulting in energy depletion or dips throughout the day.
