Jim Kwik’s memory is nothing short of superhuman, but it wasn’t always that way.

In fact, as a kid, he struggled a lot in school. He almost dropped out of college because he was so discouraged. But then he decided to focus his work on learning about learning.

Fast-forward 20 years, and Jim is a world-renowned master of memory, speed reading, learning, and the brain. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the world, including Oprah, Richard Branson, and the Clintons.

Jim shared with me some simple steps for remembering people’s names, retaining the information you take in, and improving the general performance of your brain.

In today’s world we aren’t paid for our muscle power; we’re paid for our brainpower. The ability to absorb and remember things is what can help get you ahead — in life, in work, and even in love. If you can master the art of remembering, it can change the way you view the world and how you live your life for the better.

Jim’s three keys to remembering anything are summed up in one simple acronym: MOM.

  1. Motivation: Identify why it is necessary for you to learn and recall something. Reasons reap results.

  2. Observation: There’s a difference between looking at something and actually seeing it. Take the time to really pay attention to the thing you need to learn.

  3. Mechanics: Identify and use tips, techniques, and hacks that work for you.

If you feel like there’s too much to learn and not enough time, check out my full conversation with Jim below — it’s a game changer.
