The Best Way to Eat If You’re Trying to Stay Fit

At a young age, Simone De La Rue had a desire to dance. Her passion carried her from Australia to London’s West End and then to Broadway in New York. Of course, every athlete, dancer, or anyone who uses their body in a demanding way has to transition at some point in their career. Simone was able to gracefully dance her way into a business where she whips some of the biggest celebrities on the planet into shape and empowers men and women with her unique dance training fitness system. She now has two amazing fitness studios, Body By Simone, in New York and LA, where she still teaches classes weekly and trains some of the top names in the industry.

I met Simone on the street (when she was moving into her LA studio) and once she told me her story, I knew I had to interview her for my podcast.

In our interview, I asked Simone what her diet recommendations are for clients who want to lose weight or keep fit. She gave me an answer that includes more than just food. She explained that from her ballet background, she learned that diets and calorie counting can lead to eating disorders, so she’s not a fan of those methods.

Instead, she recommends eating organic, real food, mostly Paleo (vegetables and protein) and skipping gluten, sugar, and caffeine. If that doesn’t sound very fun, Simone promises you will feel amazing and sleep well, your hair, skin and nails will grow beautifully, and you’ll have the energy to get through her workouts (which are intense).

She bases her dance workouts on lots of cardio, low weights with high reps, resistance bands, and mini trampolines (for low impact).

When I asked her if she’s noticed anything unique about training celebrities she said, “Nope, everyone sweats the same.”
